Falling Into Oblivion

Hey! This is Lightning's entry for the Any Genre Writing Competition by Jacquelinejvr. It's quite short and all, but I hope you enjoy it!

As the seconds ticked by my heart raced faster and faster. I had no hope left; my last hope was shattered into a million pieces a minute ago; there's nothing left for me. The door creaked open to reveal what I've been afraid to see. My heart skipped a beat when I saw it...right there...carefully watching my every move...
The first thing I noticed through the pitch black were the eyes: wide, staring eyeballs in the most vivid green I have ever seen in all my thirteen years of living. As I looked at them almost protruding out of their eye sockets, I realised that this creature reminded me of a cat stalking its prey, waiting perfectly still without twitching a muscle or blinking, until it pounces and slits the throat of an unsuspecting mouse or pigeon. In fact, there was only one difference I could sense, and that was the fact that I wasn’t unsuspecting – I knew full well it was there, but I couldn’t do anything about it.
My mouth ran dry and I began to swallow the thick, dense air in my mouth as I saw one giant foot with long, sharp claws that were as yellow as a banana step forward. I felt a bit of sick come up, only it was pure acid as I hadn’t eaten anything for two days. As it burned my throat the creature took another step forward until I could see its hideous face that reminded me of a real life Shrek, just more wrinkled, tiny ears that looked somewhat human (except for the fact that they were green) and with a huge, gaping hole for a mouth. Looking into that hole was like looking into oblivion, and the idea of falling into it was enough to make me vomit bile all over the floor in fright.
Its tiny ears twitched as it heard me retch, and it let out a deep, deafening growl that shook the bare, stone room where I was held hostage. Well, this is it, I thought, Mommy I love you, daddy I hate you, brother I need you, lover hey fuck you. I let out a small, weak smile as I think of how appropriate the lyrics to my favourite song, God Is A DJ by P!nk, are, but it was soon wiped away by the fact that it was my lover who brought me here, to this place with the hideous green monster and the lack of food.
“Goodbye,” I whispered before I closed my eyes and waited for the inevitable end...
